Received this scrub in December 2013 Bellabox. It says that it is herbal and so I think it should be rather safe since it sounded natural. And it is actually stated in their website the NATURAL ingredients cleanse, nourish and moisturize the skin.
The key ingredients of this product is Neem oil and Apricot. Neem oil is a vegetable oil pressed from fruit and seed of the neem. It is believed to relieve dry skin and soothe irritation and redness. And to combat acne from the root and to prevent recurrence of pimples and blemishes.
The scrub has small green beads which I believe does the scrubbing work on the skin. The beads are fine enough to not cause immediate redness to the skin as I do have sensitive skin. Ironically, the scrub do contain ingredients, like stearic acid, that may cause irritation to sensitive or acne-prone skin. So to prevent it from happening, I actually used the Bioderma Sensibio Mask to calm my skin after using the scrub. (But my skin was still slightly itchy after using the scrub).
The amount as seen in the picture above does not really foam up much on the face but I do feel the soapiness of the scrub. So you may want to use more in order to feel “scrubbed”.
There is a little fragrance to it but you won’t need to worry that it is those Chinese herbal medicine kind of smell. It smells much better!
This scrub claims to remove blackheads, but I doubt that it really does so. Generally, a facial scrub is believed to help remove the surface layer of the dead skin and thus helping the skin to regenerate. This I believe it does more or less remove a little of the dead skin and hopefully this really does regenerate the skin. Then again, I have always been skeptical of what a facial scrub does so maybe someone else may find this Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub really great.
